“The biggest international road racing event of the year begins tonight at the Isle of Man. The TT will kick off tonight with the first free practice sessions, before the TT gets into full swing tomorrow.

This will be the 100th year of racing at the TT and organizers have been working to make the event this year an historic one. More than 10,000 motorcycle racing fans traveled to the Isle of Man for last year’s event, and organizers expect even bigger numbers this year.

Ian Hutchinson, who dominated the 2010 TT with 5 race wins, won’t be racing this year due to an injury. With Hutchinson out, riders like Ryan Farquhar, John McGuinness, and Michael Dunlop will be vying for race wins. But withmore than 60 riders competing in the solo privateer races this year, there could be some surprises at the 2011 TT.

The 2011 TT will also see the return of electric motorcycle racing to the mountain track. No one was able to break the 100 mph barrier at the TT last year, but a year of technological improvements could help teams like MotoCysz to break a new record.

The TT will start tonight, May 30th, and will run for about two weeks until June 10th.

Here is the Isle of Man TT schedule.
