Tucker Hibbert Unstoppable at Traverse City Snocross National

February 11, 2013 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert was unstoppable at the inaugural ISOC National Snocross event in Traverse City, Mich. winning all of his qualifying rounds and both Pro Open final events. Hibbert excelled on the wide, boomerang shaped U.S. 27 Motorsports National track held on the grounds of Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel.

Hibbert kicked-off the weekend by laying down the fastest practice lap Friday afternoon, setting him up for the top start line pick for his qualifiers. He convincingly won both qualifying rounds. In the final, he got a third-place jump off the start in the 15-rider, 20-lap race. Before the close of lap one, he tucked under front runners Kody Kamm and Ross Martin in the corner before the finish line, passed both riders at the same time and made the move stick. On lap five, he blasted a burner of a lap and ran away for his 75th Pro National career victory.

Saturday was deja vu for Hibbert. He set the fastest practice lap, won both qualifiers and went on to win the final by over 11 seconds, proving once again he is the man to beat on the ISOC tour. He now has a 62-point lead in the Pro Open Points Championship.

The ISOC tour will take a one-weekend break before heading into the final stretch of the season. Hibbert will spend his off weekend in St. Germain, Wisc. celebrating the Snowmobile Hall of Fame induction of his long-time friend and competitor, Blair Morgan.

“The track was awesome in Traverse City. It was nice to have room to race and opportunities to pass. I was surprised by all the recreational snowmobilers we saw around the area. The fans were full of energy. It’s a great location to have an event.

It feels awesome to win all my races and set the fastest practice laps. A weekend like this doesn’t happen easily or often. It’s a good feeling walking away form an event knowing you’ve done the best you possibly could. It made a big impact on the points standings and I feel really good.

The plan right now is to take a couple days off, regroup with the team and get dialed for the final stretch of the season. We’ve been working super hard and have been on the road for a long time. It’ll feel good to get recharged to hit the rest of the season strong.

With all this fresh snow, I plan to get in some trail riding on my new Race Replica for the first time. I’m excited to go to the Snowmobile Hall of Fame this weekend to see Blair and hang out with a few people I haven’t seen in a long time.”

Hibbert Maintains Points Lead After Wild Deadwood Snocross Shoot Out

February 4, 2013 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert held on to his points lead in the ISOC Pro Open Championship after a wild weekend of racing at the Deadwood Snocross Shoot Out in historic Deadwood, S.D. The Days of the ‘76 Rodeo Grounds featured a natural snow, tight, sub-30-second track that left riders fighting for visibility and positions.

Hibbert came out swinging Friday night turning the fastest lap in practice and winning both of his qualifying rounds. He got a solid launch off the start in the 15-rider final finishing lap one of 24 on the rear bumper of leader Kody Kamm. On lap nine, he tucked under Kamm in corner three and made the pass stick for the lead. He went on to move through lapped traffic eventually finishing over six seconds ahead of second place.

Saturday started much the same for Hibbert turning the fastest practice lap and winning his first qualifier. In his second qualifier, he got into fellow Arctic Cat rider Garth Kaufman trying to make a pass for second place. The move caused officials to give Hibbert the black flag and regulated him to an automatic last place finish for that round. With 1-6 qualifying finishes, he earned the 10th spot in the 15-rider final. A far outside starting position was a recipe for disaster. He got pushed wide and rode off the track. He reentered in last place, put his head down and began an impressive charge forward. With the heavy, dirty snow roost, he rode the race “blind and by memory” eventually rallying all the way up to fifth place.
Hibbert looks to further extend his 23-point lead in the Pro Open Championship this weekend in Traverse City, Mich. at rounds nine and 10 of the ISOC tour.

“I’m happy to be out of Deadwood in one piece and with a comfortable points lead. After my first practice Friday, I felt really good and comfortable but knew it could be challenging if I got a bad start. The snow was heavy and full of salt and dirt. The roost was so gnarly and made it really hard to see if you were behind anyone. I made a point to memorize the track each race because once you got a face full of roost, you couldn’t see. Obviously every time I hit the track I want to win but in a 16-race championship, you have to look at the big picture. My plan was to go for the win if I was in good position but not take any unnecessary chances that could take me out of the championship. I’m healthy, extremely motivated and ready to rip in Traverse City.”

Tucker Hibbert Makes History at X Games with First-Ever Gold Medal Six-Peat

January 28, 2013 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert permanently stamped his name in the record books Sunday afternoon by winning the first-ever gold medal six-peat at a (winter) X Games event at X Games Aspen 2013. Hibbert won his eleventh overall medal in a dominating run against the world’s top snocross riders on a one-minute long track stacked with big air jumps and technical rhythm sections.

Hibbert turned the fastest lap in practice giving him the number one seed for his qualifying round. He rode with aggression into the first turn and entered the first rhythm section third of 12 riders. With the top-five transferring into the final, he knew he was in a safe position but wanted to push his way to the front. By the end of lap two of eight, he moved into the lead and ran away with the win.

After spending time analyzing the track and start line before the final, he chose the second from the inside starting position. He launched off the line, slid into the first corner and got hooked with No. 837 Ross Martin. After momentarily balancing on one ski, he regained control and slotted into second place behind Martin. Near the end of lap one of 16, Hibbert made a clean pass on Martin in the sweeping right corner under the monster 100-ft double. From there, he pulled a gap and settled into the lead to win his seventh gold medal and the first-ever gold medal six-peat.

Next up for Hibbert are rounds seven and eight of the ISOC National Snocross tour this weekend in Deadwood, S.D. where he currently holds the points lead in the Pro Open Championship.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat

“The first corner of the main event got intense. I drove in pretty hard, slid sideways and got hooked with Ross (Martin). I thought for a second I was going to get spun around backwards but then realized it was okay. I knew I was second or third out of the first turn so I played it safe in the second corner because I knew there were a lot of guys around and behind me. Once I got around Ross, I kept pushing as hard as a could for a few laps to open a gap. Fortunately, I opened that gap pretty quick then just focused on going fast and not making any mistakes. By the last lap, I figured I was in a safe position so I started fist pumping a little early.

The track was awesome. It was super technical and got really rough, which is not normal for X Games. That mixed with the long lap times made it really fun. We don’t always get those big jumps and rhythm sections at a national event so it makes X different and special.

At first, I was just excited about the win and was thinking about how hard we (the team) worked to get ready. I was relieved a little bit. I didn’t think about the six-peat until people started asking and talking about it. It’s a cool feeling getting the six-peat. Maybe it hasn’t sunk in yet but I know it’s a honor to hold this record and it’s really cool to see Shaun White (Snowboard Superpipe) follow with his six-peat.”
