May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month!

Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month is here! Be vigilant!

Helmet: Check. Jacket: Check. Gloves: Check.

Via the NHTSA website: “Motorcycles are vehicles with the same rights and privileges as any motor vehicle on the roadway. Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month is a national initiative aimed at getting motorists and motorcyclists to “share the road” with each other.”

This goes both ways: Bikers – Be aware of autos; Autos – Be aware of motorcycles!

Ride to Work Day is Monday, June 18th, 2012

Mark it on your calendar! Monday, June 18, 2012

The 21st annual Motorcycle and Scooter Ride to Work Day is Monday, June 18th. This year, over a million commuters are expected to participate, demonstrating the positive benefits of riding, which include: reduced traffic and parking congestion, decreased commute times, and lessened fuel consumption.

Many City administrations support this popular event by proclamation, and some also do so by providing motorcycle and scooter parking at municipal ramps and metered spaces at no charge during this day.

Reasons to encourage motorcycle and scooter commuting include:
Motorcycles and scooters share parking spaces, providing more parking for everyone else.
Motorcycles and scooters consume fewer resources than most other mobility options.
Motorcycles and scooters reduce traffic congestion and save travel time.
Participants of Ride To Work Day seek government, employer and community support for promoting and encouraging the positive social benefits of riding. Proclamations of support, as well as providing motorcycle and scooter parking at no charge on Ride to Work Day, are great ways to encourage a beneficial (and enjoyable) form of transportation.

Tucker Hibbert Injury Update: April 2, 2012

Glad to hear you are on the mend, Tucker! – The Crew at Castle

Monday, April 2 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert had a set back last week in his recovery from a grade four kidney laceration he sustained Saturday, March 17 in Wisconsin at the final ISOC National Snocross event of the season. After being released from the hospital in Milwaukee and spending two days at home, Hibbert started experiencing complications from the injury. He was hospitalized again Monday through Friday of last week.

Due to the injury, Hibbert missed the second day of the ISOC Grand Finale in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as well as Clash of Nations in Sweden. This was the first time in his twelve years of racing snowmobiles professionally he missed a scheduled event due to injury.

Hibbert will remain under close observation by his doctors the coming months. There is no realistic timeline set on his return to racing motocross this summer.

Tucker Hibbert:
“I’ve been really fortunate throughout my racing career to only have a few injuries and all of them have been either broken bones or torn ligaments. It’s been hard couple of weeks because internal injuries are unpredictable. I’m thankful my kidney is healing, fully functioning and that I didn’t end up having it removed. I haven’t seen the video of the crash and I’m not sure what I hit. I didn’t have one bruise or scratch on my stomach or back from the crash. I think my TekVest saved me from a much more severe injury. I’m thankful to be home again and am completely focused on my recovery.”

Stay connected to his website along with his Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates on his recovery.
