Minnesota’s Hibbert to Compete in Elk River’s First National Snocross Event

March 5, 2012 – Minnesota’s own World Champion snowmobile snocross racer, Tucker Hibbert, will compete in Elk River’s first ISOC National Snocross event this weekend. Elk River Extreme Motor Park (ERX) is an established local and regional racetrack. ERX will host Hibbert, the defending ISOC National Champion, along with over 20 of the world’s top Pro racers Friday and Saturday night.

Hibbert recently returned from Russia where he was crowned the 2012 FIM Snowcross World Champion. Last weekend at his home event near Fargo, he was undefeated in all-four qualifying rounds and finished third and fifth respectively in the finals. He is determined to carryover his dominate qualifying performances from Fargo to the final events this weekend in Elk River.

Pro Open racing kicks-off at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday night with final events at 9 p.m. Fans can stream the event live online at www.ustream.tv/xsantv-isocacss and catch the behind the scenes action on NBC Sports Sunday, April 1 at 5 p.m. EST.

“It’s nice to have another race in Minnesota and close to home. ERX is an awesome facility. I’ve spent some time practicing there over the past couple years and am excited to see how it will be set up for a national. I know ERX can pull a big crowd for a local race so I expect there to be a lot of fans there this weekend.

My goal is to win both main events in Elk River. The team has been working really hard on my sleds and I’m really confident we have what it takes to win. I’m looking forward to a solid week of practice and driving to Elk River Friday morning prepared to put my Monster Energy/Arctic Cat on top of the box.”

USCC Forced to Cancel Red Lake I-500

USCC Forced To Cancel Red Lake I-500
Oslo 100 Scheduled Instead

Minto, ND (February 16, 2012) – In a season that has not been kind in dropping snow on the territory the USCC calls home, the USCC National Guard Cross-Country Snowmobile Championship has been forced to make the decision to cancel the Red Lake I-500. Originally scheduled for January 13-15, 2012, the race was moved to its backup date of February 24-26 in hopes there would be more snow on the later date. However, USCC officials have decided that the poor conditions in the Thief River Falls, Minn., area where the race is predominantly run are not conducive to a 500-mile event.

“We were hoping along with everyone else that we would get some snow, but it’s just not happening,” said USCC Race Director Jesse Strege. “The decision to cancel the race is a hard one, but there’s no way we can get 500 miles of racing in on the little bit of snow on the ground in the area.”

While it won’t be racing the Red Lake I-500, the USCC will be hosting a race on the weekend nonetheless. The Oslo 100 will take place February 25, 2012, in Oslo, Minn.
“While we can’t race the I-500, we can run a shorter race, so we decided to use the snow available in the Oslo area to stage a one-day, 100-mile event,” said Strege. “The Oslo 100 will be a USCC-level event and we’re hoping to see everyone there.”

The USCC would like to thank all of the Red Lake I-500 sponsors and the people who had already done so much work leading up to the event. We also look forward to working with everyone to make the 2013 Red Lake I-500 as much of a success as those of the past.
The USCC racing circuit is entering its tenth season and is the largest cross-country snowmobile racing organization in North America. USCC has expanded with an Eastern circuit called USCC East. The USCC and USCC East hold races in four states including North Dakota, Minnesota, New York and Maine.
