Spooky discovery stalls construction of new Vandervest Harley-Davidson in Green Bay, Wisconsin

“Anyone who’s ever embarked on a major construction project knows to expect delays, but the owners of Dealernews Top 100 dealership Vandervest Harley-Davidson are facing delays for a strange reason: skeletons in the closet.

More accurately, in the ground under the construction site for the new dealership in Howard, Wisc. Efforts are under way to uncover additional bones after two human skulls and other remains were found yesterday at the construction site.

Brown County Medical Examiner Al Klimek told the Appleton Post Crescentthe site is an undocumented burial site. Investigators do not think the remains were left as the result of criminal activity.

Excavation workers found the remains about 6 to 7 feet below ground in an area suspected to be virgin soil. The workers stopped and notified authorities.

Brown County Sheriff’s Capt. David Konrath says the site owner is required to make arrangements with the Wisconsin Historical Society to hire an archeologist, who will process the rest of the scene, formerly a farmstead.

Rick Vandervest and Eric Vandervest bought the 4.75-acre site from Paul, Linda and Todd Kaczrowski. They plan to convert it into a Harley-Davidson retail and service center. The Vandervests own Vandervest Custom Cycles, a used motorcycle dealership, and Vandervest Harley-Davidson in Peshtigo.”
