Hibbert Set for Only Eastern SnoCross Event of the Season in New York

January 30, 2012 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert is ready to hit the racetrack in Farmington, New York in his only snocross event in the eastern United States. This weekend, Finger Lakes Racetrack will transform from a horse track into a world-class snocross course for rounds seven and eight of the ISOC National Snocross Tour.Fresh off his 68th career Pro victory, Hibbert hopes to carry his winning momentum into New York. He is the reigning Pro Open Champion but currently sits second in the 2012 points chase. This high-pressure situation combined with the fact that the Eastern National is notorious for pulling in an overflow, electric crowd, plows the way for a weekend of intense racing. Pro Open racing kicks-off at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday night with final events at 9 p.m. Fans can stream the event live online at www.ustream.tv/xsantv and catch the behind the scenes action on NBC Sports Sunday, March 4 at 5 p.m. EST

“I can’t wait to get back to the racetrack. The break was good to gear up for the rest of the season but I’m anxious to race again. New York always has one of the best crowds of the season. It’s the only event out east and there are a lot of snowmobile fans there. It’s going to be a good one.
We (the team) are heading into a serious stretch of racing. We have two U.S. Nationals and then fly to Russia for the World Championship, come back to the U.S. for three more Nationals then to Sweden for Clash of Nations. There has been so much planning and organizing going on behind the scenes. The majority of the work has been done and now we need to perform.”

Tucker Hibbert to Compete in FIM Snowcross World Championship in Russia

January 18, 2012 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert is prepared to reclaim his world title at the FIM Snowcross World Championship in the Ivanovo region of Russia February 25. This year marks the first time in history the Snowcross World Championship will be held in Russia. The Technical Sports Centre Semigorje is already locked in to host the event through 2015 and will also hold round 11 of the FIM Motocross World Championship this summer.

At the 2010 Snowcross World Championship in Sweden, Hibbert became the first American to be crowned champion in the history of the event. It was his first competition outside of North America. Last year in Finland, he was the heavy favorite to win but after suffering a mechanical issue in the second of three races, he finished third overall.

Hibbert will depart the United States in the middle of the ISOC National Snocross Tour where he is the reigning champion. His Arctic Cat Sno Pro 600 has been modified for the unique race conditions and shipped to Russia. Unlike ISOC, FIM has sound and fuel restrictions and does not allow the use of traction products in the track of the snowmobile.

At least eight countries are slated to send their top riders to compete for the 2012 title including Canada, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the U.S. Entries are also expected from Iceland and Italy.

“The World Championship is an exciting event. It’s a cool opportunity to travel overseas to represent the U.S. Moving the race to Russia is a big deal. Russians are really fired-up about snowmobiling right now so I expect a huge crowd and a great event. Being prepared to race overseas is a serious undertaking. The sled set-up is a lot different than what we race with in the U.S. To try and pack your entire race program into a couple shipping crates is tricky but an exciting challenge. I’ve learned a lot the past two years. We (the team) did our homework and are prepared to bring the title back to the U.S.”

With no snow in the Minneapolis area, the ISOC National Snocross Tour track crew worked overtime to pull off the race. Luckily, the temperature dropped one night making it possible to run 3.5 million gallons of water through snow guns to build a national level track.

Hibbert qualified sixth for Saturday night’s Pro Open final after finishing third
and second in his qualifiers.The opening laps of the 22-lap final were intense as Hibbert swapped positions between third and fifth. With a clear track, leader Robbie Malinoski pulled nearly a five-second lead over Hibbert. By finding creative lines Hibbert moved into second and eventually on the rear bumper of Malinoski.The final laps brought the crowd to its feet as Hibbert and Malinoski raced within one-second of each other. On lap 18, they jumped the finish line tabletop side-by-side then Hibbert launched into corner one making a clean pass for the lead. Hibbert didn’t pull away until the final lap to take his 68th career win by 1.5 seconds.
Next up for Hibbert is the Eastern National in Farmington, N.Y. February 3-4. Catch each stop of the tour on NBC Sports select Sundays at 5 p.m. EST.To stay connected to Hibbert and his racing, log on to www.tucker-hibbert.com.

Minnesota’s Tucker Hibbert Set for Snocross Event at Canterbury Park

January 2, 2012 – Minnesota’s own World Champion snowmobile snocross racer, Tucker Hibbert, is determined to deliver his home state fans an action-packed show in Shakopee this weekend. Canterbury Park Racetrack will feature rounds five and six of the world’s premier snocross series, the ISOC ACSS Tour, under the lights Friday and Saturday night.

Hibbert, the reigning Pro Open Champion, had a breakout performance at the last round of the ACSS Tour in Michigan after a rough season opener in Duluth Thanksgiving weekend. A three-week break in the schedule over the holidays allowed Hibbert and his team to spend time at the test track tuning his all-new Monster Energy/Arctic Cat Sno Pro 600 to further improve his race package.

This weekend will mark Hibbert’s seventh Pro appearance at Canterbury Park. At the past three Canterbury events, he captured six wins. This weekend, he is focused on solid qualifying and final event wins to gain valuable points for the 2012 Pro Open Points Championship.

Pro Open racing kicks-off at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday night with the final events at 9:15 p.m. Fans can stream the event live online at www.ustream.tv/xsantv and catch the behind the scenes action on NBC Sports Sunday, February 5 at 5 p.m. EST.

“I’m looking forward to returning to Canterbury Park. It’s the perfect race venue for fans and always one of my favorite tracks on the tour. Having a break over the holidays allowed me to get a lot of seat time on the new chassis. Racing a new sled is always a challenge but really exciting at the same time. Everyday you learn something new. That’s the best part about racing – there’s always room to improve. I have a feeling Canterbury will feature some intense racing!”

Arctic Cat Announces Cash Buyback of 6.1 Million Class B Shares from Suzuki Motor Corporation

ARCTIC CAT ANNOUNCES CASH BUYBACK OF 6.1 MILLION CLASS B SHARES FROM SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION

  • All-cash purchase for $79.3 million;
  • Arctic Cat expects to end fiscal 2012 with more than $60 million in cash, following Suzuki share purchase;
  • Arctic Cat’s outstanding shares reduced from 18.4 million to 12.3 million, while public share float unchanged;
  • Suzuki to continue supplying Arctic Cat with snowmobile engines and engine parts, as planned;
  • Investor conference call at 10 a.m. CT today

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec. 28, 2011– Arctic Cat Inc. (NASDAQ: ACAT) today announced that it has purchased all of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s approximately 6.1 million shares of Arctic Cat Class B common stock for a purchase price of $79.3 million. The stock buyback reduces Arctic Cat’s outstanding shares from 18.4 million to 12.3 million, increasing non-Suzuki shareholders’ ownership of outstanding common shares by approximately 33 percent, and leaves Arctic Cat’s public share float unchanged. Arctic Cat funded this purchase with existing cash on its balance sheet. The company expects to end its 2012 fiscal year with more than $60 million in cash and no debt, after deducting cash used for the share purchase from Suzuki.
Commented Claude Jordan, Arctic Cat’s president and chief executive officer: “Based on our current cash position and ongoing cash generation, we feel comfortable with this share purchase and believe it provides great value to our remaining shareholders. Suzuki has been a major shareholder since 1988 and a valued engine supplier for the ArcticCat brand since 1976. We have benefited significantly from this long-standing relationship. Although Suzuki will no longer have an ownership stake in Arctic Cat, we look forward to continuing to purchase snowmobile engines for the next two model years, in addition to having Suzuki supply Arctic Cat with snowmobile engine parts to service existing engines after that time.”
As previously announced on June 10, 2010, Suzuki will supply snowmobile engines to Arctic Cat through the 2014 model year, as well as engine parts to service existing engines. Arctic Cat will move snowmobile engine manufacturing to its St. Cloud, Minn., facility, where the company has manufactured ATV engines since 2007.
In conjunction with the buyback of all of Suzuki’s Class B Arctic Cat shares, Suzuki’s representative has resigned from Arctic Cat’s board of directors, effective immediately. This is a position granted Suzuki as part of its ownership of the Class B shares, does not continue following the buyback and brings the total number on Arctic Cat’s board to seven, the majority of which are independent directors.
